  je me souviens

when i first learnt to rattle off Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français
when i was looking for a plane ticket to France (even more exciting, when i took the plane to Paris, alone!)
when i watched the sunrise each morning at Bukit Timah road
when i used to lean against the pillar and sleep before the sun rose
when i used to sit on the railing listening to the traffic of the unseen boulevard
when i first learnt how to rattle off Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate
when i used to eat Nestle Crunch
when i thought about the physics of bouncing a tennis ball off a moving car and catching it back
when i played a considerable amount chapteh in RI
when i stopped studying Literature and started liking it
when i played Red Alert while studying
when i started exploring Funan and Sim Lim (before i Knew Orchard Road)
when i first knew of Ban Mian (like sec 1 or 2), tried once and disliked it.
when i used to eat 50cent Mee Pok in dark coloured soup (frown) and fish balls
when Lego was life and death
when i used to like Chinese
when i used to play soccer

  CA-stress rambles

perhaps next time i'll check CA schedule before choosing modules. 4 major ones in a week is abit too much.

"Do send the MC via postal service as (a) it may be delivered late, and (b) it may be lost during transit"

"S'agit-il d'un malentendu?"

DELF?

Festival du film français

Exposition Salvador Dali

Café littéraire Alliance Française

Notre Dame de Paris (hm NDP)

female ova Murder male sperm mitochondria

and i think my notes are so 'thin' because they contain mainly diagrams and pathways and enzyme reactions without much written explanation. else, i would probably have a tree worth of notes and it would be more economical to just buy a textbook.

i feel like adding another hard disk into my brain, or plugging an external hard disk. i need it. one year ago i was swamped by phylogenetic trees, this time i'm swamped by cellular pathways.

my leg hurts, aches. what a bother. i thought it was better. i wonder, if the adrenaline and painkillers released by the body mask the pain while more damage is done. it aches it aches it aches.

too many enzymes, too many pathways, too many weird circles, too many substrates, too many allosteric regulators

  Arch

Splat of arrows. ticky tacky toe

the forfeit. only lost twice, bleh

pleasantly surprised by my shooting. even though the bow is largly untuned, string inconstant, form varying, fletches ugly, arm shaking. but it just feels so nice to feel the arrow flying off.

sparklers. and radioactive tracks. or condensation in a cloud chamber. or particle accelerators.

how not to love candles, and a small aperture size

people. ohmy this photo includes the security guard and rubbish bin

before, they were like that

and then, colourful version of firearrows

  Being happy

about François playing us Fest Noz de Paname during french lecture, a french celtic-rap song.
about François clicking on the powerpoint slide in rhythm to display the next slide of lyrics.
about typing accents
about jumping around barefoot in soft white shirt and berms
about shooting and watching the arrow fly above my line-of-sight, arcing back down and landing admist the rest
about listening to familiar songs, reminiscent of Time Ago
about the lovely red leaf on my desktop
about limping around school

  s i g h

and my ancient home computer almost din manage to start, had to try a few times before the harddisk woke up. i cant believe that all computing equipment are crashing out on me these days. utterly disappointing. waiting for the day this comp crashes totally. 5.5 yrs old with 1/3 parts replaced.

depressed tired sick busy stressed ill dejected troubled overwhelmed saddened

today morning a squirrel making weird noises in the tree. it looked pretty. but distraught.

all the teaching during archery is like making me feel like a full-time teacher. tired from talking so much. hai. but somewhat fun.

a book launch today. poetry/literature books. Reading is nice. nice to hear poems from the poet's own mouth. it's always so hard to imagine or guess what it is supposed to sound like. and there were some marvellous ones.

Orchard, City Hall, Bugis, Art Museum, and other foreign looking areas of Singapore which i still have not gotten used to after being back for so long. even though i wasnt away that long. i still think of going to Tete D'or, to Part-Dieu. today i took the mrt, a rare occurence nowadays, and i missed the levers and buttons on metro doors. i miss so many things. i miss 20 Minutes, i miss TF1, i miss the two days i was alone in Paris, in the cold, in the rain, in the empty streets, in the darkness, in the abnormal cold weather where the main places were empty and one could imagine them filled with lovely people and sunshine and love and Dreams.
i miss Charpennes, miss La Doua, i miss SNCF, i miss Trenitalia.
i regret most of all being so busy that i have not been able to think of them.

  Martti Tammi

well things have been happening this week. some surprising things, some interesting things, some crazy things, some just bad things.

and comes Martti Tammi to take the next 3 bioinformatics lectures. he's so much better than susan moore. just wonderful. he speaks nicely, got a nice accent, not much, but i like the odd pronunciations. european better than american. without doubt. he's swedish. mmm. i had thought german during the lecture. well. he's got Spinelli breakfast, shrug.
and his lecture is cool. for one he's got funky powerpoint slides. from Office:Mac. i wonder why windows powerpoint is like so lousy, looks so ugly and creates such boring slides. mac version has such nice templates, textures, features, transitions. for once the transitions din look lousy. such a rarity. his slides are just great. so great that they're unprintable. but he creates notes versions.
well, he just has a nice character, talks nice, says nice things, and has nice slides. oh and he uses the wireless mike clipped to his shirt. instead of many lecturers who like to hold it up with their hands, dah.

somehow i managed to recover from my little bout of illness with just 5 hrs of sleep. dah again. i need to sleep more, but how. thought it'll get worse, but it was worth going to 8am lecture for Tammi. tho i keep bringing wrong notes to the other lectures in the day.

another tiring squash session. i din expect to exert so much, but Eugene came, and it got fun.

met many fr ppl in sci today. coincidence.

french lecture was as fun as always. french french french.

i havent shot this week. haiz.

and my harddisk crashed on me. i wonder what did stupid windows do. stupid. and lousy scandisk/chkdisk cant fix it. blah. which leads to me running Ubuntu Linux now on formatted-twice-in-a-few-weeks harddisk. until i retrieve my ibm cds and get back windows since linux is not working well with printer, webcast, and goodness knows what else. i could get it to work, but not as well, and i need things to work so that i can stop fiddling with command prompts and study. blah. and i hope i dont have to format harddisk again for some months.

which is also why i can never finish uploading photos.

./hello

and the other day mosquitoes bit me on my face and woke me up from sleep. bloody things.

how does anyone ever finish trying out these zillion programs that each linux distribution contain. and all those other free programs that get downloaded+installed just by typing a few lines in the terminal. M$ Sux. and im still in awe of mac powerpoint. might be worth a mac just to use that.
