and i brought up my theory of What to do when you suspect there's a bomb on the train.
i've decided that the first step is definitely to move to a different part of the train, preferably a carriage as far away as possible. after that...it depends though. the official action is to call the police. but i find that calling the police just like that is not exactly the best course of action in ensuring your personal survival.
1. if you speak on the train you are almost certain to alert/alarm the fellow passengers. which will lead to the bomber knowing that he has been spotted(assuming that he is a real terrorist), and which might lead him to prematurely explode the bomb. the mass panic and hysteria and whatnot will also hamper your chances of a quick escape.
2. if you inform the authorities.. they might stop the train asap? they might stop the train at the next stop? and do a thorough prolonged check? no matter what the outcome, you do not stand to gain from it. it is almost impossible for you to have a quicker escape than just simply waiting for the train to reach the stop and getting off asap. the mass alert makes that an impossibility. if in the case that it is not a real bomb, you would have stopped the train services for an extremely long period of time. if you are stuck on the trains/station, you would have wasted alot of time. the crowd leaving will also slow down your chances of obtaining alternate transport.
therefore, i believe, that from an utterly personal and selfish point of view (which i am not advocating), it would be best to 1. move to a different part of the train, 2. call the police after you have exited the station. of course, it is assuming that you seriously seriously suspect a bomb. and of course do memorise the description of the suspect package and the owner.
