And i come out of the house, wondering if it'll be a nice day today
And my eyes fall upon a yellow leaf by the rails
Pale yellow in the pale sunlight,
floating in an dreamy ocean of pastel colours
This wilted leaf, gently curled up around its stalk,
brought me joy in its expired state
A tendril of its stalk withered brown,
chases after the last dab of green on the blade
The soft waxy surface folds back
like a lady shying from praise
Progressively it fades into transparency,
no longer a leaf holding on to life
Soon all that will be left of the yellow-white petal will
Be a hollow brown skeleton
of é leaf
