  another mad week

even though it's only tuesday.
PTP/BMT really is fascinating. amazing.
monday. another helluva lot of report sick. ludicrous ones too. here pain, there pain. Road Traffic Accident nvr go and see doctor. foot rot for a few months nvr go see doctor, "it's not that bad, so nvm lor". faint here, sprain there, abrasion everywhere. damn amazing. monday work ended quite late. time passes very fast when u're working with too many things to keep track of time.
evening/night/9pm this guy complained of back pain while listening to RSM give a talk. so the superiors brought him down(to med ctr), with evil intentions. complained of some giddiness too. hence Connor IV-ed him. 16G poke in left arm. went in, got blood, hit valve, was preparing to poke through valve when ze guy slumped to one side. hmmm... hence pull out needle Lor. which means, (i suppose he didn't know this when he "fainted"), that we'll just have to poke him Again. so Joey did it. 20G on left palm, missed, oops. Again. 20G on right palm finally got in. so..one needle became 3 needle. well, fear factor. blah. _too bad lah him. haha. shrug. was sent to Nee Soon further that night, apparently refered to TTSH, haven't returned yet, lala. and he was in sickbay in the morning.
oh there were interesting stories that morning too. during training, one guy had asthma attack or sth. so later he was resting by the side. then after some time, someone noticed he was missing, did a search for him. after much trouble found him in bunk. was brought down. scolded very harshly for disappearing off by himself. made him cry. tsk tsk tsk.
another guy, was complaining of back or sth. chided by RSM, who told him trying to keng is useless. cried too. lala. very odd bunch of people.
some attitude problem ones.

today morning. during just a simple 2.6km run. which was shortened due to rain. one guy had asthma attack, one sprain ankle, one fell and had multiple abrasions, one dunno what. it's only a run! blah. it's not even SOC. blah 2. how. grr. yeah, daio. i wonder what interesting case is happening right now as i type.
oh and saturday afternoon, there was this guy who had some dunno-what problem. interesting part of the story was that he couldn't go pee, had to be helped around. just a heck of a lot of trouble for those present lah. they were complaining like hell. haha.

what crazy life nowadays. tons of mad stories.

what use is life awake
what good are lovely smiles
to what end does labour toil
but to dig your own grave deep

and if i had to leave this world
refusing to be revived
if i had the time to leave
my grave be deeper than deep

  mysteries of a mono-intake bmt

*bemused; perplexed* i suppose. they do such weird things that i can't believe it. i was covering their gym training on friday morning, and they were doing silly things during warm-up exercises. some were acting like demented kids, some like exuberant 12-yr-olds, some like spastic children. i dunno larh. they're just, so kid-like in behaviour that it's amazing. it's not like they're That young. some are even older than me.

and they report sick for the weirdest of reasons. besides that there are a helluva lot of them coming down everyday. even in the wee hours of the night. blah. backache, muscle ache... then when zhi bin was covering, one of them complained to him that his leg felt hot. !?!? daio.

and quite a few declared previous drug abuse. ice, ketamine, ecstasy, glue. names i've only seen on posters so far. hmmm. goodness.

then the Psycho cases are starting to show up already. one antisocial, one violent tendency edging for fights. let's see how long before someone goes to DB.

so jing cai.
i dunno what the heck

there were 3 potholes on the road
one on the left, one right, and another left.

and i rode over all 3 of them

and at the end of it all, i found myself still heading straight

in silence was music found, where words faltered yet dreams abound

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me but let me go.

For this is a journey
That we all must take
And each must go alone
It's all part of the master's plan
A step on the road to home

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And hurry your sorrow in doing deeds
Miss me, but let me go.

  Turn Again To Life

If I should die and leave you here a while,
be not like others, some undone,
who keep long vigil by the silent dust.
For my sake turn again to life and smile,
nerving thy heart and trembling hand
to do something to comfort other hearts than thine.
Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine
and I perchance may therein comfort you.

-- Mary Lee Hall

...nerving thy heart and trembling hand...

Time is too slow for those who wait,
Too swift for those who fear,
Too long for those who grieve,
Too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love, time is eternity.

-- Henry Van Dyke

Lundi

enjoyed a luxurious half afternoon of squash. where else but in the army can you do such things. =p i just can't beat hongyi, he's too good. unless, unless i really really concentrate on the game, the ball, and absolutely go all out to win. when i'm really fully concentrated i can win, until i lose concentration or get too tired. it's quite fun to just turn on afterburner. can't feel lethargy, can just run all over the court. just keep track of the ball and positioning and keep aiming correctly. feels really good. but overall hongyi's just better. i shall try to play again soon... yupz. so fun. running or swimming infinitely is very boring.
actually i'm still surprised that that bit of PE in JC could teach me anything at all.

Mardi

disappointing day. more preparations for PTP enlistment. me bothering pple about where to get my vaccination supplies. (some people need bothering) idiotic dinner. played pri school chinese songs at night. oops. slept a lot. wasn't in any mood.

Mercredi

enlistment day. busyness. for some people. didn't turn out that bad for me. just watched parents go to and fro. wonder what they think of the place. but they've never seen Tekong before, or KTSC building.
rather weird feeling that CO made the new pple wash their own utensils after meals. we didn't do that on Tekong. but then it wouldn't be very feasible there, with the high workload of the cookhouse there. still, partly idiotic. i wouldn't think that washing my own utensils would make me any different a person.
they had their haircut too.

Jeudi

some bad news at the start of the day. some bad news at the end of the day. actually it's more like stupid news. stupid army news. so what. not worth knowing. idiots. makes me wonder that after the NS liability cut, NS is still too stupid for me.
went covering the recruits' first Circuit Training today. so slack. so useless. so different. how come they have situps in circuit training. and they're using nice shiny dumbells from the gym. and the PTI is now called FS for Fitness Specialist, and is an absolute wimp. tsk.
and they've got nice pretty sports water bottles (courtesy of AirForce or something) so they dun have to use ze green bottles for trainings. and they've got some bag with wheels instead of ze old duffel bags. blah.
and and dunno what.
oh and today was mass vaccination day. poke poke needles. =] i had great great fun. somehow i think i'm addicted to needles. what am i going to do when i get outta army. it's so fun to poke people. heehee. used like a hundred today. wow whee.
afternoon went CMPB to collect medical dockets for the enlistees. went back to Medical Classification Centre, havent been there since JC time. so so.
picked up a late enlistee too. apparently he was on MC or something. still on MC or something. Military Police went to his house to check on him yesterday, haha. another golden haired, tattoo guy. with a Wife. that looks underaged.

what shall i do tomorrow.
why is Germany so idiotic and Czech so gd.
i'm beginning to love monopoly, i seem to have excellent luck at it. and i shall not play cluedo.
tata.

not bad a week it's been. gym on mon, swam on wed, gym squash on thurs, shoulder and butt ached since then. haha.
went East Coast with family today. practiced more of my no-hand-cycling. was pretty hard at first, i couldn't figure out why i deproved so much and kept wobbling to the side. was only after half an hr that i sped up and realised it got better. must be my speed was too slow at first. budden the wind was quite strong at that part. wind fault. need to speed speed speed, and then just let go and wobble around. it just feels great to be without hands. *beams* i can do gentle bends now!! yep.
i want a bike of my own. to practice more. sigh.

saw so many pple roller blading, outnumbered cyclists i think. i can't do that. oh no. when shall i learn that. sigh 2. can't ice skate too. gotta learn. i decided that i can learn ANYTHING, if i want to. yep. i'm so glad that my nerves and muscles function really well. *grinz*

Tues:

watched Potter. i suppose it just confirms the thinness of the movie series. shall i blame the director or the author. the series, if they haven't realised, derived most of it's success on the Fun factor of magic and children. these initial launch factors seem to have been on the decline. the movie, feels like it has it's focus on something else. this particular episode seems to be a desperate attempt to convey as much of the plot as possible. perhaps the mystery needed too much time to unravel. the 'distractions' seem to be missing. or if they are there, they lack the effect.
there's just so much less Magic. and some weird undecipherable nonsensical portions. perhaps it's just me, but the going back in time device took up a rather lot of my brain computing time to decipher. then i decided it did not have to make sense. and the ending credits... i was not very happy with the music. it just appeared, had nothing to do with the movie, never appeared anywhere in the movie, was just a New thing, and was of the Wrong Mood and Style. what's john williams doing.

i suppose, the director and author just ain't good enough to do something so big. LOTR pulled it off. Star Wars pulled it off. this one just doesn't have enough substance. it is understandable that movies usually can't surpass the book they were based on. the first movie can provide some great imagery to the book. but once there, all readers will take that imagery and extrapolate it to the rest of the story, every small bit. and subsequent movies will definitely be unable to display every single detail and subplot, hence it would disappoint avid fans. it just can't be helped. Star Wars was never a book, the books were outside of the movie plots. LOTR was just one long story. Potter, was but small slightly related stories. i suppose it fails in the continuity cycle because each book was standalone even though the main characters stayed.

nvm. i'm not a Potter maniac.

  yahoo mail

hm okay so now it's official that Yahoo! is giving 100 megabytes for it's email storage space. good news for many i suppose. even tho i've been enjoying that priviledge for ages. =p not my fault. i suppose they were quietly testing out the system first. hmmm. =]
and they've got a nice looking interface now, finally, after that slow old junk. hotmail upgraded too i think, but hotmail still sux. why do pple put up with all that advertisements and spam!?

i can still invite 3 more pple onto gmail, as of now. seems like they're letting us invite lots and lots of pple in. gmail's growing fast.

been offline for ages. stuck in camp, clearing my duties for the month. practically camped out in the medical centre this week. didn't see much of the sun. too bad it wasn't as uneventful as i thought.
went my aunt's place on thurs evening, had chicken pie and choc cake coz it's my cousin's bday. terribly, it made my stomach all queasy nauseous. when i got back to medical ctr that night i puked it all out. felt miserable. ugh. why does food take so long to go down and so short a time to come up? well? couldn't sleep properly that night coz my tummy was still all feeling weird. the next day morning i was so knocked out. no energy to do anything. mainly lay down somewhere and rested. haiz. didn't eat much that day, couldn't feel like getting anything down. so bad. so my stomach then felt part hungry and part nausey. one churning one way, the other the opposite way, and it all ends up in some screwed up fractal patterned eddy within my gastric juices. yup, i suppose that describes it rather well. that was friday. managed to sleep fri night, mainly coz i was really tired, and lacking in energy. i was really wanting to be put on a glucose drip. then i wouldn't have to try to eat anything and i can lie in bed all day. after i'm already so used to needles. okay so saturday i was feeling better. ate a lot more. ate parts of each meal. which is quite good, friday i had about 10-15 mouthfuls of rice for lunch and some bread for bfast and dinner. not a wonder that i was hungry and weak. nausea mostly went away on saturday. only to be replaced by diarrhoea. i've no idea what's wrong lah, it's just irritating. what the heck. if it's food poisoning why can't it just all come at a go or something. irritation. but i was much better. was alright. watched "A la folie, pas du tout" with Matthew. he brought in the DVD. somewhat amusing movie. i am liking listening to french. yup. yawnz. portugal sux. i suppose i am well today. slowing healing. trying. it's been a sickly period for me, wHy. sigh. hope it's over. ridiculous for me to get so sick so often. really abnormal.

i dunno who, if anyone is worrying about my sickness... so,
my fever is gone.
my running nose, can't seem to run away
my sorethroat, is still present
the erythromycin is giving my diarrhoea, sadly.
and so i am partially well.
and somewhere along a little bit of a cough creeped in.
tata.

plot of Venus-Sun transit on Earth

  Venus & Sun

8 Jun 2004

The planet Venus transits across the Sun on June 8th, 2004. This is one of the rarest of astronomical events -- no one alive today has seen a transit of Venus since the last such event was in 1882.

The beginning of the transit can be seen from all of Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and most of Africa. The Sun sets while the transit is in progress for the eastern portion of Asia, all of Indonesia, and Australia. Finally, the transit is already in progress when the Sun rises for the eastern US and Canada, the Caribbean, and most of South America.

The transit is not visible at all from the western US, Mexico, southwestern British Columbia, southern Chile and Argentina, the South Pacific and New Zealand.

ah well, another astronomical milestone. don't think i'll have a look at it. no proper equipment nor time. why can't singapore just have a proper solar eclipse

  2000

number of visitors have passed the 2000 mark. even though a large number of that was me checking stuff, there's still at least 1500 odd. wonder if all of you who drop by gain any knowledge about the world or me. a few regular visitors, some whom i don't even know that well. but some odd ones too. and also those who chance upon this place via search engines.

have accumulated quite an interesting lists of the countries of visitors so far:
Singapre: 590
United States : 55
United Kingdom : 13
Holland :3
Syria, Malaysia : 2 each
Hong Kong, Germany, Portugal, Brazil, New Zealand, Norway, France, Australia: 1 each

quite puzzling results eh.

erythromycin, ibuprofen, fenfedrin. working wonders, fever plummeting. yay.

  shiver

running nose led to sorethroat in middle of night, which destroyed my lovely sleep.
started fever in morning. rose from 36.8 to 38. i was feeling feverish at 36.8
let it get worse. got my MC. skipping tmr's parade, not my fault that i always seem to skip it.
took medicine at 3.30, mainly slept from 4.30 to 8 and my temp is still 38. dah. bad. and there were two cold showers inbetween. no energy to get myself out of bed for dinner. feeling all weak and headachey now. nose is still spewing mucus, as jx would say. well. my sorethroats so very like to turn into fevers.
running nose, sorethroat, headache, fever, body ache. weakness. shivering.
argh.
why can't the fever go down. i've got things to do.
shiverrrr...brr... sniff.
it's all matthew fault, he who didn't want to go home during his MC and then spread it to me. hmph. matthew. always matthew's fault.
feel terrible.
for lack of energy and spirit, i feel like going back to sleep.

and we watched most of Deep Impact and also Mummy Returns on TV. there were not enough TVs for us to watch Deep Blue Sea as well. =]

Matthew, Connor, Hongyi, Zhi Bin, Me, Firdaus, Alif, Shafie, Hazmi. not bad eh. had most of the pool to ourselves today. managed to swim enough before the thunderstorm set in. happy day. doctor wasn't feeling well, left early, so we all went to play, haha. took some photos of them fighting in the water. and left camp early. in a beautiful storm. nice.
